Webinar | Optimizing gas turbine maintenance intervals

Find out how optimizing component life and maintenance cycles can significantly reduce maintenance costs. In this free webinar, we explore strategies to extend the lifetime and maintenance intervals of gas turbine components, all while keeping risk under control.

Lifetime assessment helps to make informed decisions about when and whether to upgrade. Bridge the gap between conservative maintenance approaches and the actual condition of components, achieving real savings and flexibility without ever compromising safety or reliability.

Programme

Part 1: Extending maintenance intervals – avoiding risk

Cutting costs is a top priority in today’s market. With spare parts accounting for as much as 85% of total maintenance costs, extending maintenance intervals beyond the conservative schedules recommended by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) is an approach worth exploring. But it’s a strategy that can come with risks, including unplanned outages and the potential for failures—factors that must also be considered by insurers.

Part 2: How do we assess the condition of units and components?

A thorough understanding of a unit’s operational regime, the philosophy of component design, and REX from the ENGIE fleet is essential when establishing a baseline feasibility assessment. Lifetime prediction tools, along with detailed laboratory assessment—both destructive and non-destructive—mean that we can understand component condition and remaining lifetime with greater focus. However, the scope for maintenance interval extension (MIE) is unique to each set of circumstances and requires an individualized approach.

Part 3: Case studies – successful lifetime extension

We showcase real-world examples of successful lifetime extension, refurbishment cycle extension, and rotor life extension, drawn from our years of experience. The case studies highlight practical approaches to risk assessment and mitigation, as well as strategies to gain acceptance from OEMs and insurers.
