Profile Laborelec is a technical competence center in energy processes and energy use. It has been created in 1962 in order to support the Belgian member electricity companies with research, development and specialized services. Nowadays, the activities are spreading out in the international market mainly through the international development of its main shareholder Electrabel, a leading European energy company and number one on the Benelux market. It is part of SUEZ, an international industrial and services group that is active in energy and the environment. Other shareholders are Suez-Tractebel, Intermixt and almost all the Belgian Distribution Grid Operators.
The R&D programs are focused on the development of competence and services in order:
to optimize the existing processes of power generation, distribution and supply of electricity
to improve the operational reliability of equipments
to promote and coach on efficient use of energy
to monitor on-line the quality of power supply. Laborelec is active at all stages of equipment life cycle, including advice for design, on site assistance during erection, commissioning, and mainly during operation and maintenance of power generation units, grids and industrial energy installations. A team of more than 220 specialists is at your disposal for your energy savings, your environmental issues, sustainable development and Power Quality problems. So our portfolio of activities is concentrated on four strategic axes: equipment assessment, power quality, rational use of energy and care for the environment. Through research activities, often in collaboration with universities and other research centers, Laborelec is continuously improving its competence to anticipate future needs and challenges. Laborelec is also an active partner in several national and international projects. |
