Electrotechnical Materials and Equipment

This team consists of experts in electrotechnical material and equipment (low, medium and high voltage), lighting, insulating fluids and lubricants (oils) and solid insulating materials. They combine high tech laboratory facilities, a long practical experience and a large knowledge of the state of the art (including international standards), in order to give the best advice concerning maintenance, purchase, technical specifications or failure analysis concerning electrotechnical equipments.

Mission

  • We are a BELAC accredited laboratory and a competence center for industrial, tertiary, and public lighting. We perform measurements and tests on lamps, lighting fixtures and signaling equipment.
  • We are the center of expertise in electrical network equipment (ring main units, circuit breakers, transformers, cables, etc.) for Electricity Distribution Networks and industry. We assist our customers in the preparation of technical specifications, the selection of equipment, failure analysis and electrical measurements, in particular for the condition monitoring of power cables.
  • We perform in-depth investigation of solid insulating materials (for cables and generators) and other non metallic materials (e.g. corrosion or combustion products), by means of physical and chemical analysis.
  • Our oil analysis laboratory is indispensable for the condition monitoring of power transformers. We help our customers to avoid catastrophic failures and to design optimal maintenance by providing essential information on the state of insulating oil and paper. We are accredited for the measurement of PCB in oils.
  • We also contribute to the monitoring of rotating machines (turbines, motors, gearboxes) by analyzing the lubricating oils.
